A teacher should know his subject well He must be an efficient communicator He must be ever ready for updating his knowledge and for upgrading his skills He must have a real love for his subject He must also love his students and devote time and energy for them In addition, he must have a good personality, determination, will-power and persuasive ability and understanding of the ways of the young

  5. TEACHER NEEDS TO FUNCTION IN AN IMPERSONAL MANNER

  6. Inherent bond between teacher and student a teacher should be able to combine his teaching abilities with a strict sense of governance.

  7. A teacher should neither be lenient to the core nor be over-protective in the name of maintaining discipline.

  8. On the capability of the student – teacher can transmit his knowledge only to that soul who is ready to accept it. Therefore student screening is inevitable

  9. Requirements of a student according to Swami Vivekananda selflessness, self-control (iii) endurance, (iv) desire for freedom and (v) faith in the teacher as the requirements of a student.

  11. Perfection takes place through the dedicated approach of the teacher plus the student’s rational understanding of the teachers’ ideas coupled with faith in the teacher
