  1. NML Cable Database This is a Guide for Users

  2. Purpose • This Data Base is to be used to keep track of the many Cables being installed in the infrastructure of the New Muon Lab.

  3. USE A. This Data Base is available from 2 locations: Filemaker Pro - go to Remote and add Beams-fmpro-2 to remote locations then go to NML Cable Data Base

  4. Internet – go to http://beams-fmpro-2/fmi/iwp/res/iwp_home.html then go to NML Cable Data Base

  5. B. Either of these will open the Data Base in a Read only mode, Printing is available from Filemaker but not from the Internet

  6. NML Cable Data Base Navigation Page • Open NML Cable Database Submittal Form Button

  7. This button will download the NML Cable Data Base Submittal form in an Excel format to the local computer

  8. The Person requesting Labels will fill out the Excel form. Note: The Format of this form is locked and the user is Required to use Drop Down menus in order to ensure key field entries are entered and spelled exactly alike this is very important to ensure data integrity when the data is imported into Filemaker from this form Upon Completion of this form the user will E-Mail it to Kermit Carlson at Kermit@fnal.gov From Kermit Carlson the labels and Reports will be printed as needed.

  10. This page holds all of the information from the Excel spread sheet as well as information that is generated as the sheet is imported into Filmmaker. This Data is organized into areas: 1. General : Cable Code - Generated from a contained data base cross-referenced with Cable Type Cable Serial Number – Generated by Filemaker in a sequential manner when records are created, THIS IS YOUR PRIMARY KEY Date Entered – Generated by Filemaker when the record is created Date Modified – Generated by Filemaker anytime a record is modified Numi Reference Number – Undefined Subsystem Ref # - Undefined Information about the Database Administrator – Kermit Carlson ext. 2252 Kermit@fnal.gov 2. Cable Reports : Cable Request Check – A List of information from a given set of records Cable Request Test – a Sort able Version of Cable Request Check Cable request Destination Check - A List of information from a given set of records Cable Termination List - A List of information from a given set of records Cable report - A List of information from a given set of records Cable Report by Serial Number - a Sort able Version of Cable Report

Navigation Aids : NML Navigation Page – Central page for Navigating Through the Data Base Sort Records – Used to place the records in a specific order Spell Check – Used to check the spelling of entries Reset From Records Search – This will reset to show all records from a found set 4. Data: Physical Description – Information about the physical description of the cable Location – Information about the location of the cable Use – Information on what the cable is being used for Admin Info – Information used by the Data Base Administrator to keep track of who the requestor is and who has modified the data base

  12. C. 4 Small labels – Prints 4 small white labels for each selected record D. Print Large labels – Prints 2 Duplicate large labels for each selected record E. Print Large Connector Labels – Prints 2 Duplicate large labels for each selected record.
