  2. John Adams John Adams presidential term lasted from March 4,1798 through March 4, 1801, he was the 2nd president. During his term Adams completed a mission called The XYZ Affair. The XYZ Affair was an incident that involved 3 ministers that were sent to France to negotiate an agreement to protect U.S shipping. Adams also passed a group of laws known as the Alien and Sedition Acts. One law that was passed was that residency was raised to 14 years to become a United States citizen. Another law that was passed was that any false article printed, about the government will be illegal.

The song Star Spangled Banner was created during.(1814) Treaty of Ghent-The treaty ending the war.(1814) Battle of New Orleans-one of the battles during the war of 1812.(1814) Hartford Convention-The meeting to consider the problems of New England in the War of 1812.(1815) Non-Intercourse Act-to ban all commerce between Americans and European nations of France and Great Britain. Second Bank of U.S.-the goal of controlling changes in the value of currency by state banks.
