  2. introduction In 1939 Neville Chamberlin declared war with the dreadful Germans. War ended in 1945. It was such a dangerous and gloomy time. Hitler invaded Poland and his next target was England. It was devastating that men had to go to war. 70 years ago world war two started. World war two lasted 6 years.

  3. Nazi Adolf Hitler, the German leader, started world war two because he wanted more land so he invaded Poland and planed to come to Britain. On Adolf Hitler's side was Japan and Italy. We had many countries on our side called allies and Germany were foes. Germany had many more planes for air attacks.

  4. entertainment For entertainment people in the house would use a wireless. An old fashioned radio. Big dances, in the 1940s,were held to cheer people up. Vera Lynn and Bing Crosby were two popular singers in world war 2. Wirelesses were made of wood and if you were rich they would be fancy.

  5. RATIONING In the war time, rationing was invented so that every body got their fair share of food as you couldn’t get food from other countries that is why they introduced rationing. Cheese, milk, luxury foods and thingslike that were rationed. They had little amounts for a long time.

  7. EVACUEES Evacuees are children being sent away from London. They were sent to a billet family in the country side. The children went on a steam train to get to the country side. They had never seen some of the animals at the country side.

  8. HOW THE WAR STARTED Adolf Hitler wanted more land so he invaded Poland and after that he sent his troops to bomb London. That is why they invented Anderson shelters and evacuees.

  9. WOMEN’S JOBS • Women had to do the men's work because men were at war. The names of some of their jobs are :Wrens, Women’s Land Army, bomb factory, weaponry factory, reading of letters and Dig for Victory.

  10. Anderson shelters Anderson shelters are murky and were maid of metal to stop the bombs from getting in. All you had was pieces of metal and then you have to build it. The pieces came in a box and then they were sent to you by post.
