  1. IS YOUR VOLVO HAVING A BAD CRANKSHAFT PULLEY? REPLACE IT

  2. The crankshaft pulley helps to distribute the engine power to other systems.

  3. The crankshaft pulley contains a harmonic balancer and connected to other important moving parts.

  4. If the crankshaft pulley were to go bad, it could spell trouble for the entire operation of your Volvo.

  5. You should replace your crankshaft pulley when you notice any of the following symptoms.

  6. VIBRATIONS IN ENGINE The first symptom that will likely come up in your Volvo are engine vibrations.

  7. The harmonic balancer is designed to absorb the vibrations of the engine as you accelerate faster.

  8. But if the balancer starts to go bad for any reason, the vibrations won't be absorbed anymore.

  9. And this will cause the engine to shake profusely when you accelerate.

  10. FAILURE OF ALTERNATOR The crankshaft pulley is also responsible for powering the alternator.

  11. So, if the crankshaft pulley goes bad, then you can expect the alternator to stop working.

  12. This problem is evident with all your lights flickering and eventually shutting off entirely.

  13. If it's too bad, your Volvo won't stay on for very long after you start it up.

  14. BAD POWER STEERING PUMP The power steering pump is also powered by the crankshaft pulley.

  15. It pumps hydraulic fluid so that hydraulic pressure is generated in the steering system.

  16. As a result, you'll be able to steer the Volvo with minimal effort.

  17. But if the power steering pump goes bad, then it gets difficult steering the vehicle.

  18. DAMAGE TO TRANSMISSION If there is constant engine vibrations, they will eventually start damaging the transmission system.

  19. All the bearings, input shaft, and gears may get damaged from the excessive vibrations.

  20. A damaged transmission means an uncomfortable driving experience.

  21. You will experience whining noises, difficulty shifting gears & a leaky transmission fluid.
