  3. The Kapiti Collective (KC) goal is to create an extensive link between primary and secondary schools in the Kapiti district. The initiative will assist in the development of community-wide quality teaching practice by the sharing of data and ideas, the analysis of barriers to learning with the focus on good practice of teaching and learning programmes.

  4. To develop consistent assessment practice within and across KC schools to allow for valid comparisons of data to be made in order to raise student achievement • A major focus of the professional development programme is the collection and analysis of data to identify areas of effective practice and areas for future development. • Standardized data will be collected, area wide, initially from PATS using the NZCER website. • asTTle and other data will be considered in the second year.

Using PAT information Learning Intention: Use PAT data to inform the work of the KC Success Criteria: • review the various reports available • Identify how they are used by teachers • Identify how they are used by syndicates/departments • Identify any trends • Determine focus areas • Discuss next steps/actions for the KC

  12. Cross Sector Talk Learning Intention: • Know and understand the expectations and realities of both sectors Success Criteria: • Identify the ideals for each sector • Identify the realities for each sector • Identify the gaps between ideal/reality

  13. School Sharing Learning Intention: • Broaden our knowledge and understanding of other school’s assessment practices Success Criteria: • Know how other schools use assessment information • Identify where you may be able to obtain support or share your practices

  14. Action Plan • Review existing plans • identify areas of focus • Adjust where necessary

  15. All KC schools will begin to use and share longitudinal student (Year 7,8,9,10) achievement and engagement data in order to raise student achievement.

  16. Develop relevant focused professional development programmes based on evidence gathered from KC – i.e achievement and student engagement data. Analysis of data from assessment and student engagement survey will inform professional development programme planning.
