  1. ScoilRuadháin

  2. About us. We are a Catholic co-ed. primary school, situated in Tullaroan, twelve km. from Kilkenny city, in the north-west of the county. We have an average of 80 pupils every year.

  3. Hurling/Camogie • The Roinn D Hurling final took place in Nowlan Park on Wednesday June 18th 2014. Tullaroanteam had a great win against Johnstown. • The Roinn D Camogie Final between Tullaroan and Conahy took place in Nowlan Park on Saturday June 14th2014. Tullaroan had a great win.

  4. Other GAA info • The Girls’ Football team reached the quarter final of RoinnB in 2013.But they were beaten by BallyhaleShamrocks. New Jerseys A local G.A.A. enthusiast, Tony Doyle, very kindly donated to us a set of new jerseys in the Tullaroan colours.

  5. Holy Communion • Every year in Tullaroan the second class receive their First Holy Communion.

  6. Confirmation • 28 children from 4th, 5th and 6th classes were confirmed by Bishop Freeman, in the Church of the Assumption, on Sunday February 16th 2014.

  7. English On Tuesday 6th May, Kilkenny author Martin Brennan visited the senior classes to talk to the children about the process of storywriting. Eason’s Spelling Bee On April 1st, 2014, the County Finals of the Spelling Bee took place at St. Canice’s Primary School, Kilkenny . Sam Coughlan was selected to represent ScoilRuadháin.

  8. Irish • Every week the teachers of ScoilRuadháin choose two children who have been speaking the most Irish (this encourages children to speak Irish). They are GaeilgeoirínaSeachtaine. LáGlas In Tullaroan NS we had a LáGlas on the 14th of March to celebrate St . Patricks Day.

  9. School Tours • Every Year the senior and junior classes go on a school tour to various places.

  10. Maths • All the classes take part in a Maths trail around the school grounds once a year in groups of four . (This is a test of what the children have learnt in the year so far)

  11. Charity • Eileen, our S.N.A., and some of the older children knitted caps for premature babies in St. Luke’s hospital, Kilkenny .They also knitted jumpers for new-born needy children in Africa.

  12. Credit Union Quiz • Two teams from ScoilRuadháin took part in St. Canice’s Credit Union Quiz, which was held in Hotel Kilkenny on Monday 6th of February. U-12 team U-14 Team

  13. Times • Everyday in Tullaroan NS all children have to be in school before 9:30. • Junior and Senior Infants leave school at 2:10 pm. Every other class leaves the school at 3:10 pm. Transport Most of the children in Tullaroan NS are taken home by their parents/guardians but there are two buses going to and from school every day .

  14. Green Flag • In 2012 ScoilRuadháin entered the Green Flag Programme. In 2013 we were successful. • It took a lot of hard work and a lot of changes but we got the Green Flag in the end. • We now have Recycling bins and a compost bin.

  15. Science • Once a year the senior classes do science experiments for all the younger classes.

  16. Art Exhibition • An Art Exhibition was held in the school on Thursday April 10th.The children drew and painted pictures for everyone to see.

  17. Awards • Tommy Walsh came to the school on Tuesday 25th June and presented children with their medals from the Hurling, Camogie and Football Leagues.
