  1. On your note card… Write the following info. on your note card: • Name that you prefer to be called (if different) • The reason why you’re taking AP European History • What type of learner are you? (visual, auditory, etc.) • Describe the typical way you study for a test. • Anything else that you think I should know about you.

Materials Needed • 3 ring notebook dedicated to this class • Dividers (one section for each chapter) • Index Cards (A LOT OF THEM!) • You’ll be making a note card for each major term/ person in each chapter! • Textbook: The Making of the West: Peoples & Culture by Hunt, Martin, Rosenwein, Hsia, & Smith • It may be helpful to purchase an AP European History review book available from places like Barnes and Noble.

  4. What do you know? Task One: • Make a bulleted list of ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that you remember from your World History class! • Admit it, you know you want your list to be longer than your classmates’!

  5. What do you know? • Task Two: • Draw a map of Europe from MEMORY on the blank sheet of paper. • Label as many countries as you can. • For those of you thinking, “Is Europe a country or a continent?” try your best!

  6. Homework! • Get your textbook today!!! • Visit the following website: • http://www.sporcle.com/games/europe.php • Record how many European countries you can name in 8 minutes (No Cheating!) • Then visit this site: • http://www.yourchildlearns.com/mappuzzle/europe-puzzle.html • Choose the Europe with outlines puzzle • Record the time it takes you to correctly place each country • Be prepared to report the number of countries you can name and your time tomorrow! • If you want to get a jumpstart on the reading, read Chapter 1: A History of the Modern World by Palmer, Colton & Kramer found on my teacher web page and on Netschool. • You’ll receive your syllabus tomorrow!
