Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives Review 10 Finally, be strong (passive / imperative) inthe Lord and in the strength of His might. 11Put on (middle / imperative) the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. James 1:12 (NASB) 3/6 • Once you pass the test,then….. • You receive the crown of life (Rev 3:5) 5 He who OVERCOMES will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will NOT ERASE his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. Rev 3:5

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives What does an APPROVED Believer look like? 21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22 But PROVEyourselvesDOERSof the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and NOT A DOER, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. James 1:21-24 (NASB) 4/6 Not saved by works!!! Works are proof of Salvation

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives What are APPROVED Believers Doing? 25 But one who LOOKS INTENTLY at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and ABIDES BY IT, not having become a forgetful hearer but an EFFECTUAL DOER, this man will be blessed in what he does. 26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is worthless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. James 1:25-27 (NASB) 5/6

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives Satan’s plan Is to keep us from: • Looking intently into the law of God • Abiding by it • Effectively Doing of the Word • Living Holy, 6/6 • You? • Approved by God? Passed the Test? • Received the crown of Life? • Doing the things mentioned above? This is Spiritual Warfare!

  12. To Win in Spiritual Warfare, we must Put on the armor of God Truth Breastplate of Righteousness Gospel of Peace Shield of Faith Helmet of Salvation Sword of the Spirit (The Word of God) Prayer Pray at all times

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, Why? so that • you will be able to resist in the evil day, • and having done everything (middle voice), • to stand firm. Eph 6:13 (NASB) Get Ready for battle! It is coming! My fear – we have underestimated Satan

  14. Satan hates all humanity! His Plan is to steal your: Joy, hope, happiness, and your family Then, kill you physically Then, torment you in hell forever DO NOT doubt the reality of Satan and how much he hates you!!!

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives Verses to Remember • 28"Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell Matt 10:28 (NASB) • 32"Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33"But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies John 8:44 (NASB) • 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. 25"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. Your own nation and the chief priests delivered You to me; what have You done?“ 36 Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.“ John 18:33-36 (NASB) 1/2

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.John 14:6 (NASB) • God the Spirit is Truth. 16"I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper , that He may be with you forever; 17that is the Spirit of truth,John 14:16-17 • The Word of God is Truth. 17"Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. John 17:17 (NASB) 1/4

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives “The Truth about Jesus“ 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives “The Truthabout Jesus“ 1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raisedon the third day according to the Scriptures, 1 Cor 15:1-4 (NASB) 3/4

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives Are you fully convinced of the Truth? • Jesus is God the Son • Came down from heaven • Died on the cross for our sins • Rose from the dead on the third day • Sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession for the saints • Coming again to get His children • All who believe, repent, and follow Him have everlasting life • John 3:16, Mt 10: 32-33 First piece of armament: fully convinced in the truth about Jesus and the Gospel. 4/4

Spiritual Warfare: centerpiece of God’s Plan for our lives The Breastplate of Righteousness Righteousness: good behavior, uprightness, Spiritual Strength requires Physical Righteousness • Ex 20:3 – Put God first, • Mt 22:37-39 - Love • Mt 4:17, 19 – Repent / Follow • Heb 10:25 - Church • 2 Tim 2:15 - Study • Mt 28:19-20 - Witness • Prov 3:9, Mal 3:8-10, 2 Cor 9:6-7, - Tithe • Mt 18:21-22- Forgive • Mt 5:3-14 – Sermon on the Mount • Rom 6:12 – Stop sinning!

  26. The First two pieces of armor Gird up your loins with Truth Fully convinced it’s all true Surrounded by Jesus continuously Breastplate of Righteousness Laying aside our sin Doing the things the Word tells us to do
