What is a wiki? • The term "wiki" comes from a Hawaiian word meaning "quick." • A wiki is an online resource that is easily editable by any user from any Internet browser. • Wikis allow for cross-referencing outside links or other pages in the same wiki. • Anyone can edit anyone else's work in a wiki. • Wikis can be reverted back to previous edits. • Wikis were created by Ward Cunningham for the Portland Pattern Repository in 1995. • Web-based wikis can be created with free server-based software such as MediaWiki.
