  3. Exploration • Abel Tasman – Dutch explorer, hediscoveredislandsin XVII century (1642) and heat first nameit „StaatenLandt”. Themainname of islands was given 23 yearslater and it was „NieuwZeeland”.

  4. Political system • New Zealand is a constitutional monarchy without a constitution. Great Britainhave influence on politics of thisislands. Thehead of state isthe British monarch.

  5. Administrativedivisions • Theterritory of New Zealand isdivided to 16 regions and cities.The capital city isWellington

  6. Quickhistory • From about the 1000 year, New Zealand was uninhabiteduntilthe Maori peoplestarted to settlethe land. In 1769 after 127 yearsfromtheTasman’sdiscovery, anothersailor James Cook began to colonize New Zealand islands.

  7. Geography • New Zealand havediffrentsurface. On theSouth Island thereare Southern Alpswiththehighestpeak – Cook Mountain (3754 meters) and alsothereisthebiggestglacier (about 29 km). In thecentre of New Zealand thereareseveralvolcanoes and three of themareactive. Therearealsogeysers and hot springs, whichareveryspectacular.
