    2. La Task Force dell’ESC sull’endocardite infettiva (EI) è stata costituita per preparare le raccomandazioni riguardanti un’adeguata diagnosi, terapia e prevenzione dell’EI. Il termine “endocardite batterica” è stato sostituito da “endocardite infettiva”, in quanto anche i funghi sono stati chiamati in causa quali agenti patogeni. Se non trattata, l’EI è una malattia mortale.
