  3. 2 - Marketing appeal • For the sender • You don’t waste time writing usual SMS giving directions (bookmarks). • You have a new fun way to send invitations : “ SMS Flyer”. • You can make appointments from anywhere with your mobile. • For the receiver • You save time by receiving detailed and structured information • You know where the sender is: you can estimatethe timeto wait • For the operator: multitargetting • Couples / Families often send short SMS to say they are late • in France for example, a million SMS / week • A new fashion for organizing parties • few hundred thousand SMS /week. • Professional appointments in a formal manner • few hundred thousand SMS /week.

  4. 3- Technical description • A JavaCard application for : • Getting the WWWW : Where (geolocation), When, Why, Who • Bookmarking your favorite places (office, home, restaurant, etc...) • Being geolocalized in order to fix a date/appointment. • An OTA application for : • Sending the SMS to the people concerned by the date/appointment • Getting the map from a map provider • Web pages automatically generated for : • Consulting the SMS with an attractive interface containing the map • Configuring the look and feel of the messages you send. • An Imode and a J2ME applications for : • Graphically viewing the date/appointment and the associated map

  5. 4 - JavaCard applet architecture • To make a date, the user has to enter four different items of information: Where, Why, When, Who. • It is able to retrieve the Cell ID value from the network, and consequently to give a geolocation of the user when he sent the SMS. • It allows the user to have bookmarks which are stored in the Java Card.

  6. 5- Clients’ interfaces • Direct link to the map provider for location and navigation • Multiple interface : SMS, WEB (config. look and feel), J2ME, Imode

  7. 6- Conclusion • For the users : A very useful application covering entertainment and professional usage • a new way to send invitation cards : FlyerSMS • a formal way to inform employees of meetings • From a commercial point of view, InstaDate generates a significant SMS flow. • In the long run, as new technologies (MMS, GPRS, UMTS, J2ME, Imode) emerge, InstaDate will see its activity take off. • Really exciting project (discovery of every technical aspect of the cell phone world).
