  2. Parental Responsibilities • Physical and spiritual • Effects: Immediate and long term • The truth of the Lord must be used to bring up children, Eph 6:4; 5:17-18

  3. NURTURE Bring your child to maturity Ephesians 6:4

  4. Teach to Respect Authority Eph 6:1-2 (Heb 12:9) • Be in charge, Prov 1:8; 5:1-2 • Not abusive or disregarding • Teach them that the world does not revolve around them! Deut 21:18-21; cf. 1 Sam 3:13

  5. Teach them the Bible2 Timothy 3:15 • By instruction: Foundation for their faith, Rom 10:14 • By your life: Show them your love and respect for the Bible by your interest and obedience

  6. Teach them LoveMatthew 22:37-39 • For God and Bible, Psa 119:97 • For family, Psa 127:3-5; Prov 17:6 • For brethren, 1 Jno 3:16-19 • For neighbors and enemies, Matt 5:43-48

  7. TRAINING A day doth not a man make! Ephesians 6:4; Proverb 19:18 paideia: “The whole training and education of children (which relates to the cultivation of mind and morals, and employs for this purpose now commands and admonitions, now reproof and punishment).” (Thayer)

  16. Parents have a Great Work! • Shaping the next generation, Psa 78:4-7 • God binds the generations together with a cord of faith and love • Honors God, the children and the parents who nurture them in the training and admonition of the Lord
