Course Title: Human Computer Interaction and Interface Design Course Code: ITT 405 Year Offered: 4 Total Hours: 45 Pre-requisites: Introduction to Psychology (PSY 100) & Software Engineering (ITT 400) Rationale Students of Information Technology need to have an understanding of human computer interaction issues and to develop capabilities in the critical application of these theories. They should also have knowledge of new design methods and techniques in human computer interaction and interface design. Course Description This course examines the interaction between humans and computers and explores the design of computer interfaces that are based on the abilities, limitations, and goals of the users. Students will be introduced to the principles underlying the interaction of humans with computers and the design of computer interfaces by reviewing the theories and current research in the area.

  7. General Objectives At the end of this course students should be able to: • Understand the concept of usability and how it relates to computer interface design • Understand the psychological processes underlying computer interface design • Appreciate the key aspects of graphical user interfaces and how they are related to the abilities of the user • Appreciate how culture and experience influence the usability of computer products • Understand how the design of user interfaces fits in with the overall product design process
