  2. What is Gua Sha? “Gua” means scrape and “sha” means sand, it’s a treatment that involves scraping your skin with short or long strokes to stimulate microcirculation of the soft tissue, which increases blood flow.

  4. Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. This ancient Chinese healing technique may offer a unique approach to better health, addressing issues like chronic pain. “Gua” means scrape and “Sha” means sand. Gua sha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation. Inflammation is the underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain. Rubbing the skin’s surface is thought to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

  6. Benefits Of Using Gua Sha Our bodies can experience stress in the form of hunching back while at a computer, or headaches from tension, and similarly, our faces experience stress in the form of furrowed brows or clenched jaws. Gua sha relieves tension in the muscles of the face and body by increasing blood circulation and encouraging lymphatic drainage to eliminate bloating. It helps break up fascia, the connective tissue that hugs muscles but can sometimes interfere with optimal circulation.

  7. On the face, gua sha is known to decrease puffiness, promote anti-ageing, improve elasticity, detoxify the skin, rebuild collagen and improve skin tone. It’s like a natural face-lift — one that leaves your skin looking younger, firmer and brighter. Performing gua sha on your face for a few minutes every day can work wonders for your skin.

  8. Did we mention that gua sha is also super relaxing? Using long, repetitive sweeping motions helps to relax your muscles, and by incorporating some deep breathing and being present with each motion you are bringing your awareness into your body and out of the busy mind — so you’ll be calm and ready for bed. We like to call this gua sha meditation.

  10. How To Gua Sha Nativ Sens Body gua sha range is versatile and has a multitude of benefits depending on the amount of pressure you apply to the body. So, how do you use nativ sens body gua sha for lymphatic drainage? To begin, prep your skin with a lubricant and always start at the legs from the body of your ankles and work your way up using upwards stokes towards your heart using light to medium pressure to help to stimulate blood flow and lymphatic fluid in the body.

  11. Begin with the front side of the body. At the feet, work up each leg and thigh toward the heart. Focus on working into the pelvic ligament area for the maximum benefit of lymphatic flow and drainage. • Then, repeat upward sweeping motions on the back of the legs, starting at the calves and moving up toward the upper thigh with the same stroking movements. • Next, stoke up each arm on both sides moving toward the axillary area (under shoulder) for the maximum benefit of lymphatic flow and drainage. The underside of the arm can be sensitive so move cautiously in this area. • Using body gua sha on the abdominal area, start at your obliques and stock in a downward motion. When working on the abdomen itself, you want to work in a clockwise circular motion, encouraging the flow of digestion.

  12. How to perform gua sha on the face? • Never put your gua sha tool in the fridge. This will only constrict your blood vessels, which is the opposite of what we want. • Start with a light face oil or cream so that your gua sha tool can glide across your face. • Forehead: Sweep the stone up from the start of your eyebrows out to the hairline. Move up the forehead and repeat. • Under eyes: Gently sweep from the inner corner of the eye to the hairline.

  13. 5. Cheekbones: Sweep underneath your cheekbones and direct it toward your hairline. 6. Lips: Glide over your lips back and forth six times. 7. Jawline & Chin: Glide the stone upwards from the centre of your chin and out to the ears to contour the jaw. 8. Neck: when you’ve finished the face, sweep from under the chin down the neck to continue the drainage process. Move around, in downward motions, each time starting at the top, until the whole neck has been done.

  14.
