  2. Academic Expectations • Attendance, attitude, and behavior all affect your letter/cooperation/work habit grades. • Being prepared for school means: bringing notebook, homework, books, agenda, pencils, pens, paper, and P.E. uniform. • Ask for HELP- Don’t wait!!!

  3. UNIFORMS/Dress Code • NO DICKIES • NO SKINNY JEANS OR ANY TYPE OF JEAN • POLO SHIRT with YOKA Logo • INSIDE THE BUILDING: ONLY YOKA JACKETS OR SWEATERS ALLOWED. • NO HATS, BEANIES, HOODS • NO PE UNIFORMS OUTSIDE OF PE

  4. ATTENDANCE • Attendance Policy-Clear Attendance between 8:00am -8:20am in the bookroom (main office). • Tardy policy-Clear tardies 2nd/3rd floor counseling office. • TRUANCY – YOU CAN BE CITED! (TICKET) • If you do decide to ditch a class or school, you will be cited under the day light curfew law (45.04 LAMC).

  5. Bullying • Do not threaten others. This is against the law under CA Penal Code 422pc. You will be suspended and can be arrested. • No hitting; whether you are playing or actually mad. This can lead to you being suspended and arrested for battery (CA Penal code 242 pc); or 415 pc if it was a mutual fight. • Do not touch others inappropriately. This will definitely get you arrested 243.4 pc (sexual battery) .

  6. Random Searches • Random Searches- Every day random searches and lockers will also be searched. • Sharpies (Permanent Markers) are not allowed on campus. • Illegal objects will result in the Police being called.

  7. Backpacks/Cell phones- You are responsible for them. Do not leave them unattended. • Store your valuable inside the big pocket of your backpack. • Leave all valuables at home. • Building Opens at 8:20 am. NO ONE IS ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING BEFORE THAT TIME.

  8. CHOICES • Smart choices keep you from making mistakes that you will regret. • Examples of bad choices: • Being late to class consistently. • Truancy • Being disrespectful to adults. • Defiance • Not having your materials with you. • Tagging!!!! • Bringing any illegal substance to school.

  9. Bad Choices • If you are caught smoking, selling drugs or with any drug paraphernalia (lighter, pipe, etc.): • Police will be called. • You will be cited. • Parents will be called up. • A parent conference will be mandatory. • Disciplinary contract the entire year . • Attend an intervention program. • Suspension. • “O.T” or Expulsion

  10. Intervention Programs • After-school Programs at YOKA • After-school community programs • Beyond the Bell Programs • Library Opens at 7:45am • Talk to your teachers

General Information • Lockers- Please do not give your combination to your friends. • Skateboards must be locked in the skateboard rack. • Do not hang out on the 2nd floor balcony. • Tuesday’s early dismissal- 2nd/3rd floor is closed after dismissal bell rings. Get what you need before you go to lunch. • Cell phones- • Hallway Pass-

Pride: A sense of one's own value; self-respect. • Taking Pride means: • If you see someone tagging YOUR school, tell someone in authority • If you see someone selling drugs on YOUR campus, tell someone in authority. • YOU throw your trash in the trash can. • Take pride in YOUR SELF. • Take pride in YOUR work. • YOU don’t bully other kids.

  13. YOU…. • Ultimately, YOU are responsible for your future and no one else. • You need to THINK before you act. • Choose your friends wisely!!! • Your Actions have consequences. • YOU ARE THE LEADERS OF YOKA
