  1. Success to Academic Achievement “You control your own destiny.” By: Neal Rogers

  2. Good Habits and Bad Habits • GOOD • Be on time • Be prepared (materials, tools) • Complete Assignments • Do Quality Work • Do a little every night, do not procrastinate • POSITIVE ATTITUDE • BAD • Always late • Always having an excuse • Incomplete assignments (b/c I don’t like school) • Doing just enough to get by builds a weak academic foundation. • Negative Attitude

  3. If you establish poor habits now, then it will follow you the rest of your life! • Time is limited…you will be an adult and own your own very soon. • Regardless of your desired occupation (formal ed. OR skill labor) you will need at least a 6 week coarse at some point; you need to learn to get the job done, even though you don’t want to. • If you did not “get it while it was free-High School” then college will be difficult. • From 9-12th grade you build a “track record” that will effect the rest of your academic career.

  4. Beating the odds • There are some Rags to Riches stories that have nothing to do with college education, however there are currently 315,170,490 ppl. In the U.S, AND OVER 7 BILLION IN THE WORLD, small percentage accomplish this. • Education is a great “backup plan.” • Ending the cycle-if your family did not get an education, YOU can change this and be the 1st to do so.

  5. Competitive market/economy • There are many people who do have an education and there is less job opportunities than usual; you need to have social skills, work ethic, dedication, and strong will to be successful along with this education. • The longer you wait after high school to go to college, the tougher it will be to go back, due to life circumstances (children, full-time job, more life expenses “bills”=night classes and long days) • College will be the best years of your LIFE!

  6. The American Dream • Building a small business takes a ton of work. www.fuzzotfurniture.net • I built this from scratch and the quality of life was tough, so I had to complete school to enhance my quality of life and create a retirement opportunity. • It literally pays in the long run to be a successful student! • Education is a stepping stone to adulthood and it gives you an edge in life.

  7. Nobody said it was going to be easy..You have to earn it! • Set short term goals that you can achieve. • Set Long-Term Goals...without goals we are just floating through life. • This generation...YOU.. Are scared to death to put maximum time and effort into something and still fail...this happens, at least you can HONESTLY hold your head up and say “I did the best that I could.” You are not entitled to success...Be a “go-getter” and be the best you can be! Knowledge is POWER!! Invest in YOU!
