1. Tulane Neuroscience Summer Research Program SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING • Tulane’s Summer Research in Neuroscience program offers qualified students the opportunity to spend 9 weeks of the summer working in the research laboratories of Tulane neuroscientists. Students can prepare for graduate school through these activities: • Assisting Tulane faculty members and their laboratory teams in ongoing research projects in the exciting field of neuroscience • Development of proficiency in basic research skills that include ethical awareness, experimental design, data analysis and interpretation, and laboratory technique • Learning communication skills in the oral and written presentation of scientific results • Presentation and discussion of projects with other students and faculty members during weekly group sessions. Student Eligibility. Students are selected based on their academic standing and desire to pursue future training and careers in research at the Ph.D. or M.D. levels. Eligible students should have completed their sophomore or junior year in a science curriculum. Tulane students interested in the Neuroscience 4+1 Masters program or the PhD program also are eligible. Program Benefits. Students accepted to the program will receive stipends of $2,500. Program Features. The 2012 program runs from May 29 to July 27. An application, transcript, resume, and letter of nomination should be submitted to Kelsey Ward by March 9, 2012.
