  3. Information Request: Meeting at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas Chapter 6 involved learning about positive messages. For this particular assignment, we had to send a letter to the manager of Caesars Palace requesting information about their hotel. The letter had to request information for a four-day combination conference and vacation spot for my company, Software.com. It specifically had to request what room rates, and accommodations they could offer for my group of 85 engineers, managers, and marketing staff. The next slide shows includes the letter.

He suggested Caesars Palace, as being one of the most amazing and accommodating casinos. • We would need three conference rooms to accommodate 25 or more for one and a half days. Will Caesars Palace be able to accommodate that? • Can you please give me some information on your room rates, conference facilities and entertainment options for families for those days? • Does Caesars Palace have a group rate for the off-peak season? • One of the nights, our CEO would like to host a banquet for about 125 people. Will there be a conference room big enough to hold that? And, is it available? • Please answer these few questions and provide any other information that you think may be beneficial.   6. Request Refusal: You Want Me to Do What? Chapter 7 we learned about writing negative messages. Our assignment for this chapter was to write an email to two co-workers who requested an illegal copy of Adobe Photoshop for personal use. As the manager of the Reprographics Department, I had to write the email refusing the request. You will see the email on the next slide.

Photoshop is a great program offered to Reprographics for its ability to perform the extensive editing and enhancing that we need to provide excellent service to our customers. Currently our contract with Adobe only allows us to install the software on one server, and to use it on up to five computers on the network. Unfortunately, I am unable to give you a copy of Photoshop for your personal use. Photoshop is a very expensive program that is licensed, not to mention that it is against the law to copy licensed software. Software companies would go out of business if illegal coping of the software occurred. I would be breaking the law and the contract if I allowed coping of the software for you. I hope you do understand. If you would like me to, I could - show you and or other employees how our department uses it. It would be a great learning experience for the rest of the team. Persuasive Favor/Action Request: Financial Advice for the Young, Fabulous, and Broke Chapter 8 was about writing persuasive requests, writing sales and marketing messages, and writing online messages. For the assignment, our task was to be the program chair of the Associated Student Organization committee for the University of Nevada. We had to write a persuasive letter requesting the attendance of Suze Orman – author of The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke. The next slide is the letter that I wrote.
