  1. 5 Points of an EffectiveResume

  2. Creating a resume sounds simple enough.

  3. Write what you've done… • Who you are… • And why you should be hired for the job.

  4. An employer will look at your resume, see that you are qualified, and hire you.

  5. Unfortunately, there's a lot more to writing a resume than that.

  6. Keep in mind most resumes are looked at for 5 - 6 seconds.

  7. Here are 5 TIPSto clean up your resume and boost your chances of getting the job.

  8. 1. Be Brief Be succinct and to the point.

  9. For example: State that you were a "Hiring Manager"

  10. For example: Not that you were a "Vice President of Human Resources Operations."

  11. 2. Be Specific Don’t use generic terms to describe your previous job.

  12. For example: Don't write "supervised a department store."

  13. Instead, write… "Supervised six employees and accounted for $1,600,000 worth of inventory on a daily basis."

  14. 3. Be Relevant Emphasize the jobs that most heavily relate to the one you are applying for.

  15. Look at the job description and try to tailoryour key words to the ones in the ad.

  16. 4. Be Error-Free Resumes should be perfect, grammatically speaking.

  17. Ask someone to proof-readit for you.

  18. 5. Be Clean Don't clutter up your resume; make effective use of whitespace.

  19. Keep your resume to one or two pagesunless additional information is requested.

  20. Resumes are a game of minutiae so never stop improving and adjusting yours …

  21. … in order to land the job you deserve.
