  2. What is the British empire? The British empire was a group of countries that were all ruled by the British between the 16th-20th century,but should we be proud or ashamed of it? There are many things that people have done during the reign of the empire that we would have been proud of but there are things that we would be ashamed of.

  3. Opium smokers Britain continued to sell opium to China until 1914, but the value of the trade had dropped dramatically since China had legalised production of the drug within her own borders at the end of the 19th century.

  4. What is Opium • Opium is a milky soft smooth drug.It is very strong so if someone took too many of it they would get ill and eventually die.So the English tried to trade China opium for goods that England wanted!

  5. TRADEFOR TEA • This telescope was given to the Chinese to persuade them to trade their tea but it& never worked.They then tried to sell them opium because they knew that the Chinese would become addicted to it.

  6. The Tea Clipper This ship would carry over loads of opium to China and would come back to England hopefully with some precious tea for the English and the rest of Britain to drink

  7. THE SUMMARY FOR TEA • The British were jealous for tea. • The British gave the Chinese gold and silver for tea. • The British didn’t want to give the Chinese gold and silver anymore. • So they start giving them Opium. • The Chinese got hooked.

  8. The Evil Part Of The Tea Trade • The British were jealous of the Chinese. • The British tried to persuade the Chinese for tea. • But when it failed the British wanted to use force. • The British also brought back slaves from the Caribbean.

  9. The Good Part of The British Empire • The Empire brought expensive goods to Britain and spices to make the food taste better. • They also brought tea to Britain so the people could drink it. • The Empire also made Britain much richer.
