GK Advanced Diploma Pilot 2012 - 2013

This advanced diploma course is designed for UEFA B enrolled goalkeepers with coaching experience. Participants will learn advanced skills and techniques to train and coach goalkeepers in real club situations. The course is led by experienced tutors and includes residential days, distance learning assignments, and practical club group work.

COURSE CRITERIA • The Course begins Nov 2012 - Completed by May 2013 • Course Contact Hours – Minimum 105hrs • Number of Candidates - 16 • Selection Criteria - UEFA B enrolled + GK Cert. preferred + Goalkeeping Experience • Participant needs to have access to a team, be a GK coach with a club for the duration of the course • Course Staff; • Siggi Eyjolfsson – Technical Director • Packie Bonner – UEFA Lead Tutor • Gudmundur Hreidarsson - Assistant Tutor - Senior National Team GK Coach • Halldor Bjornsson - Assistant Tutor - Women’s Senior National Team GK Coach • Olafur Petursson - Assistant Tutor - Youth National Team GK Coach

Participant’s Course Tasks & Assignments • Match Analysis • Compilation of statistics of 3 games (Pre course) • 1 Group analysis of a game (Residential & Logbook)) • 2 personal analysis of games (Logbook) • 4 Micro Group analysis of club matches (Club Group Work) • Presentation of Analysis • 1 Group Presentation (Residential - Video reflection) • 4 Micro Group Presentations (Club Group Work) • Designing & Planning training sessions • Group work (Residential & Logbook)) • 6 individual training sessions (Logbook) • 4 Micro Group plans (Club Group Work) • Practical Coaching • Group Coaching (Residential) • Coaching in Pairs (Residential) • Club Coaching (Club Group Work) • Personal Planning & Development • Develop a work diary, stats and reflection (Logbook) • Produce a draft periodisation plan for season 2013 (Submission & Logbook) • Design and implement a Personal Plan for Club Goalkeepers (Submission & Logbook) • GK Research Project (Submission) • Profiling • Personal analysis of GKs (Pre Course task) • Create a profile for club GKs (Residential & Logbook) • Compile a draft scouting GK system (Logbook)

Practical Club Group Work: Aim: To improve the GK’s knowledge, skills and work process during real club situations Objective: To develop the participant’s ability during to; • To design a Technical/ Tactical training session based on analysis of a game • Implement a club training session based on a real match situation • To develop a working relationship between Club Coaches Organisation: • 4 Micro Groups established • Each participant to lead their group members during a training session based on a match analysis • A Tutor/Instructor attached to each group Process: • Club GK Coach works during a game • Analysis of game by a minimum of two members of the group • Match footage if possible, sent to members of the group if they cannot attend the game • Meeting (conference call) held to discuss analysis, set key objectives, design session plan, organisation etc. for training session (Club GK to lead) • Training session carried out at club. Club GK Coach works with Head Coach or Assistant Coach during the training. (Other members of the group should be in attendance to observe and record findings) • Reflection and feedback delivered by Tutor/Instructor • All paperwork logged by Participants and Tutors/Instructors
