  1. We've seen a ton of funny things take place while people are still high on the anesthetic following a wisdom teeth procedure. A painful inflammation called dry socket , which happens if the protective blood clot is lost too soon. If you're a young adult between the ages of 17-25, your dentist might advise you to get your loopy wisdom teeth removed. Symptoms of pain at the surgical site and even pain to the ear may occur two to three days following surgery. Though not everyone needs wisdom teeth removal, most of us prevent oral health issues with the simple procedure. It is advised to remove wisdom teeth that are no longer healthy from the mouth. Some pain and swelling are normal, but you can lessen discomfort and heal faster by following these tips. Your dental professional will ensure you are comfortable during the procedure by administering local anesthesia, intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. It is best if someone is with you the first 24 hours after surgery to help you if you feel weak, nauseous, or dizzy. The day after surgery and throughout the following week, rinse your mouth gently with warm saltwater every few hours and after meals to prevent infection. Repeat this cycle as often as you want during the first 24 hours after wisdom tooth removal. I just had my bottom two wisdom teeth removed around 56 hours ago, and I'm feeling throbbing pain on both sides now. Doing so will make you as comfortable as possible during the first few days following your procedure. The pain and other symptoms can last for up to 10 days after your procedure. Not all impacted wisdom teeth will need to be removed but sometimes they can start to cause dental health problems. This can cause pain, swelling, damage to your teeth, and tender gum tissue. For others, wisdom teeth erupt normally — just as their other molars did — and cause no problems. The main thing is to listen to the dentist's advice on avoiding a dry socket, then follow it to the letter.
