Views of East Midlands Development Agency EMDA • A top 20 region by 2010 • Utilisation of ICT is directly correlated to a regions competitiveness • Create an environment which promotes the widespread deployment and use of ICT • Regional Economic strategy – ICT is a key cross-cutting theme • Key current programmes – First Steps and Broadband for All ICT strategy meeting 20th April 2004
Support for the regions SME’s • Issues within SME’s – ICT is dynamic, complex and confusing and this presents a number of difficulties for small businesses • The existing ICT supply chain must be dynamic, competitive, offer a high quality service and professional expertise at the right price • To achieve the 2010 target, emda need to accelerate the deployment of ICT in business and create a support infrastructure that is both competent but impartial ICT strategy meeting 20th April 2004
Successes to date • Partnership developed a bid for a web portal - £27K • Referral to supplier for £100K project • Referral to supplier for £5K web site development • Referral to Welland ITAP scheme • Referral to funding streams
