Victory Over Fear. Some Fears Are Good Fear of danger Warn kids to stay out of the street (Put within them a healthy fear of being struck by a car). Hopefully, that infantile fear will be replaced by common sense Until that happens, dare not take any chances. Victory Over Fear.

  1. Victory Over Fear • Some Fears Are Good • Fear of danger • Warn kids to stay out of the street (Put within them a healthy fear of being struck by a car). • Hopefully, that infantile fear will be replaced by common sense • Until that happens, dare not take any chances

  2. Victory Over Fear • Some Fears Are Good • Fear of punishment - Heb. 12 • One of highest motivators of obedience is fear of what will happen if don’t • You remove that fear…society will suffer

Victory Over Fear • Some Fears Are Good • Fear of the Lord­ - Prov. 1:7; 14:27 • This fear is one of proper respect and reverence for God • Not the cringing fear of a slave before a brutal master, but the proper respect of a son before a loving Father • Opens the way for a relationship with God

(Anxiety attacks!!!) - Phil. 4:6 • People become enslaved by fear • Christ never meant for us to ENSLAVED by fear: (It’s amazing how many times God’s Word says, “Do not be afraid!”)... • When angels appeared to shepherds - Lk. 2:10 • 1st time Peter fully understood that Jesus was the Christ - Lk. 5:8-10 • When Jarius received the bad news that his daughter has just died - Lk. 8:41, 50

  5. Victory Over Fear • What Causes Fear? • Guilty Conscience • When Adam & Eve sinned, they felt guilty and became afraid; and they tried to hide from God - Gen. 3 • Whenever we disobey God, we sense that void, and that spiritual loneliness creates fear - 1 Jn.1:9

  6. Victory Over Fear • What Causes Fear? • Ignorance • The fear of the unknown! • The fear of the future/change!

  7. Victory Over Fear • What Causes Fear? • Our own feelings of weakness • Accustomed to managing things ourselves, so when not in control we feel helpless and weak • Sometimes fear is realized after we have won a victory - (1 Kgs. 17/ Elijah in wilderness)

  8. Victory Over Fear • What Causes Fear? • Unbelief • Fear and Faith can never be friends - (Jesus stilled the storm - Jn.) It’s a sign of little trust • Secret to victory over fear is Faith in God - 1 Jn. 5:2 • Here is confidence - Isa. 12:2

  9. Victory Over Fear • Steps To Overcoming Fear • Look by faith at God - Heb. 11 • Spend time alone in praise and worship His glory and greatness! • Result? Little problem…Big God!
