  3. It: to tell the time and date • What time is it? It is ten O’clock. What is the date today? It is February 14th 2012

  4. Days of the week • Saturday • Sunday • Monday • Tuesday • Wednesday • Thursday • Friday

  5. Read the following dates: • My friend visited Spain in 1995. • I have an appointment on May 8th • The wedding is on July 21st • She was born in 2003. • They graduated from school in 1987

  6. What time is it? 8:15 It is eight fifteen. It is a quarter past eight. 11:45 It’s eleven forty-five. It’s a quarter to twelve. 10:35 4:30 5: 40 1: 55

  7. Questions with when/ what day/ what time. When is your birthday? It’s on Sunday What day is the party? It’s on Sunday. What time is the party? It’s at 8:00.

  8. Preposition of time • In: for parts of the day, with months, seasons, and years: I usually drink tea in the morning. School starts in May. She was born in 1973. The weather is hot in summer. • On: with dates and days. We have English class on Monday. I will see the doctor on May 12th . • at: hours The class starts at 8:00.

  9. Statements with There + to be We use there is/there are to say that something exists. • There is a computer in the room. • There are books on the table. We use there isn’t/there aren’t to say that something does not exist. -There is not a waiter in the picture. -There are not any glasses on the table. We use any before nouns in the plural, both in yes/no questions and negatives: -There aren’t any cookies on the table. - Are there any cookies on the table?

  10. Questions with there + to be Is there a bank in the town? Yes, there is No, there is not Are there any shops in the town? Yes, there are. No, there are not.

  11. The conjunctions and, but, and or We use and, but, and or to join two sentences or two parts of a sentence. The food is good and cheap. She is tired but happy. Are you busy in Saturday or Sunday?

  12. The simple past of to be I was not here yesterday. She was in America two years ago. They were not in the class last week. You were in the office three hours ago.
