  4. lucid • characterized by clear perception or understanding; rational or sane • There was a lucid moment in his madness.

  5. obscure • indistinct to the sight or any other sense; not readily seen, heard, etc.; faint • She felt embarrassed by her braces, so she tried to obscure them when she smiled.

  6. pathetic • causing or evoking pity, sympathetic sadness, sorrow, etc.; pitiful; pitiable • After walking home from school in the rain with no umbrella, he was a pathetic sight.

  7. perspective • the state of existing in space before the eye • The elevations look all right, but the building's composition is a failure in perspective.

  8. pretense • pretending  or feigning; make-believe • My sleepiness was all pretense.
