  3. Birth • Gaius Iulius Caesar was born 13 July, 100 BC. • His birthplace is Subura, Rome. • He died the 15 of March, 44 BC.

  4. Story Caesar was born July 13, 100 B.C. and died on the Ides of March in 44 B.C. During these 56 years Caesar accomplished more personally than most and brought more changes to Rome than any Roman before him.

  5. Story….. In 84 B.C. he was first married. When he was 25, he was captured by pirates. Ten years later he became Aedileand two years after that he became Pontifex Maximus, an honor usually reserved for men much older.

  6. Story Continues…… In the 50’s B.C. he waged successful campaigns in Europe, and in 49 B.C. he crossed the Rubicon, challenging the Roman status Quo, and starting a civil war. A year before he was assassinated, he was made dictator for life.

  7. How He Died…. Julius Caesar was assassinated by a group of senators that felt he had too much power. He often presented the senate with decisions and had them passed without discussion or vote. He was stabbed repeatedly, at least 23 times, by a number of different senators.

Timeline Continues • 59 BCE- Consul • 58 BCE -Defeats Helvetii and Germans • 55 BCE -Crosses the Rhine; Invades Britain • 54 BCE -His daughter, Pompey's wife, dies • 53 BCE -Crassus killed • 52 BCE -Clodius murdered; Caesar defeats Vercingetorix • 49 BCE -Crosses the Rubicon - Civil War begins • 48 BCE -Pompey murdered • 45 BCE -Declared dictator for life • 44 BCE -Ides of March, assassinated
