  3. STOP!Notice and Note • When you are reading and a character asks him/herself a really difficult question • These are important moments of internal conflict in a story!

  4. EXAMPLE: “A vampire? What am I doing with my life?” thought Bella.

  5. STOP!Notice and Note • THEN WHAT? • After you note a tough question, ask yourself the following question: What does this make me wonder about?

  6. STOP!Notice and Note The answers to that question will tell you about the character’s internal conflict and may help you predict later events.

  7. COPY THE FOLLOWING REMINDERS: Always, STOP! Notice and Note: • Tough Questions– When you are reading and the character asks him/herself a really difficult question. • Note the part of the text. • THEN, ask yourself the question: What does this make me wonder about? • FINALLY, answer that question in your book.

  8. NOT ALWAYS IN QUESTION FORM: • I wonder…. • I can’t imagine… • ETC…
