Simão César Dordio Gomes Gomes. Dordio Gomes, the painter of our village. Simon César Dordio Gomes was born in 1890 in Arraiolos and he died in Porto in 1976. His academic life. He studied in the School of Arts in Lisbon and later on he travelled to Paris to study there as a scholar.

  2. Dordio Gomes, thepainterofourvillage • Simon César Dordio Gomes was born in 1890 in Arraiolos and he died in Porto in 1976.

  3. His academic life • He studied in the School of Arts in Lisbon and later on he travelled to Paris to study there as a scholar. • He lived in Arraiolos and in Porto where he worked in the School of Arts, as a teacher .

  4. His works .Simon César Gomes Dordio painted several works. . Some of them are in the Town Hall of Arraiolos Village and they are associated to the period of time when he lived here, the colors are strong and the landscape characterizes the way of living in the countryside. . Others, are associated to the period of time when he lived in Porto , the colors are not so strong and the landscapes are associated to the River Douro. . We are going to show you one painting of River Douro, because the others we invite you to appreciate in the town hall of our village!

  6. Landscape of Douro • The landscape of Douro was inspired in part of the River Douro. • We think it is an elegant picture. • This picture inspires us a lot, so that, we decided to create a story for it.

  7. “TheBoatmanofRiverTheboatmanofRiver Douro Once upon a time, there was a boatman who used to sail in River Douro. One day, when the boatman was sailing on the boat with a family, a child falls into the river. The humble boatman, held out his hand into the river and pulled the child's fragile little arm. Due to this act, the boatman became well known.
