  1. Ilhan Omar is a refugee who takes the idea of America as a ‘land of opportunity’ to heart. Come Fall, she is likely to be the first Somali-American to take public office, serving in the House of Representatives for the State of Minnesota. After having a blast as an interpreter for her g’pa in local caucuses at age 14, Ilhan was hooked on politics. “I think the idea of having someone like me run and possibly win allows other folks who are afraid to put themselves out there to take the leap, and to lean in, and to be the change that they want to see, and be a little braver in that process.” Her platform is about issues that help #allofus, including restorative justice, promoting urban agriculture, creating good jobs, strengthening maternity leave, to name a few. Yeah, she’s a good egg.
