  2. Processing of separation/retirement benefits due to RATPLAN • As as June 20, 2014: • 4,493 applications processed • Php 4.395 Million gross benefit Maaasahan ng Lingkod - Bayan

  3. Refund of premiums under DBM, DepEd & GSIS MOA • Massive refund of life insurance (GS share) benefits of 179,243 DepEd active and inactive members amounting to Php 932.09 Million. • Those who were granted refund were notified through: • Agency Authorized Officers • Text Blast (UBP) Maaasahan ng Lingkod - Bayan

Non-Suspension of Loan Privileges of Employees in Suspended agencies • No more suspension for employees working in agencies that are delayed, deficient in premium payments (beginning July 2013) • Suspended agencies to choose from any of 3 options to restore regular status: • Full payment of premium delinquencies; • MOA with GSIS; and • Payment of at least 90% of any 3 consecutive months’ premium obligations; sign undertaking with GSIS to enter into MOA.   9. Restored full benefits of nearly 800,000 members through MOAs • 182 suspended agencies signed agreements with GSIS which restored loan privileges of over 818,000 employees (as of 30 April 2014) Maaasahan ng Lingkod - Bayan

  10. Opened NCR-Pasig Extension Office • Covers more than 107,000 members and 15,000 pensioners in Pasig, Pateros, Taguig, Marikina and Rizal province • Facilitates better coordination with DepED Central Office in Pasig Funeral Claim Retirement Death Claim Pre-need CSV Maturity Disability

  13. Streamlining of Documentary Requirements • Separate clearances from the Office of the Ombudsman, Civil Service Commission and Office of the President are no longer required. • Instead, retired members will submit a Declaration of Pendency/Non-Pendency of Case.

  14. Used e-Card in Paying Claims starting Oct 14, 2013 • Credits claim proceeds electronically via eCards instead of checks • Ensures timely release of benefits • Makes processing twice as fast than traditional check payment Funeral Claim CSV

  15. AY 2014-2015 GSIS Scholarship Program • Allows low-income members to send children to school • Exclusive to children of GSIS members • Php20,000/semester and • Php2,000 monthly stipend

  16. GSIS CSR – Adopt – a – School Program • GSIS partners with DepEd for 2014 • Adopt – A-School and BrigadaEskwela • Programs • 17 schools for pilot adoption nationwide with priority on schools hit by recent calamities

  21. 2014 Directions • Proposed amendments to GSIS Charter to institutionalize member-friendly policies, including: • Members’ Bill of Rights • Designation of beneficiary by single members before age 50 • Removal of remarriage and cohabitation as basis for cancellation of survivorship benefit • Increase in funeral benefit to Php30K • No prescription period for claims • Option of the member to claim his/her separation benefit even before reaching age 60 Maaasahan ng Lingkod - Bayan

  22. 2014 Directions • Review of current life insurance policies – Enhanced Life Policy and Life Endowment Policy • Pension program for uniformed personnel • Construction of GSIS branch office buildings in Quezon City, Bohol and Cabanatuan Maaasahan ng Lingkod - Bayan

  24. Status on the Refund of Deducted Premium in Arrears (PIA) of DepEd Personnel as a result of the Tripartite MOA Maaasahan ng Lingkod - Bayan

  25. Background: • Tripartite MOA signed between GSIS, DepEd and DBM last September 11, 2012 • The MOA covers the premium arrearages of DepEd from July 1997 to December 2010

Identified DepEd Personnel Qualified for Refund of PIA: • With the completion of the 1st and 2nd batches of refund (of PIA) by the GSIS, there is a need to revisit the dataset on DepEd personnel previously excluded in these batch runs to determine if they are now qualified for refund of PIA. • We also need to consider the DepEd personnel who continued to be deducted of PIA (for the period July 1997-December 2010) after the cut-off month of November 2012, totalling to 32,844 members as of March 31, 2014
