What is a LEGO Robotic Vehicle? • Made from LEGO’s • Especially “Technic” pieces • Controlled by an NXT or EV3 computer • Programmed by kids to do missions • Not Remote controlled • Has 2 motors for driving and turning • Has attachments for delivering or retrieving • May have touch, light, gyro, and/or ultra-sonic sensors • Each team designs their own robot

  2. FLL Competition Challenge • Robot moves around the “Field” and performs various missions • Delivers items • Retrieves items • Pushes things • Avoids Obstacles Competitions at practice and official tournaments in Camarillo Every year the challenge is different

Form a Team • 4 to 10 members • 9 to 14 years old in November • Meet at least once a week • At school or at a home • Volunteer to be a Coach! • Training & helps for coaches & teams: • Coaches Workshop • Robot basics for new coaches • Day camp for kids • Practice tournaments • Books • “Winning Designs!”, James Trobaugh • “FIRST LEGO League, the Unofficial Guide”, James Floyd Kelly
