  1. Introducing the Parkside Challengers!! We work hard to make your school a better place! If you got a problem, yo we'll solve it!

  2. The PROBLEM Within You know that problem inside of you, the one you can't tell anyone about? Would you like to get it off your chest? We have a solution! If you have a problem, yo we'll solve it! There will be problem boxes located throughout Parkside School. The 4th and 5th grade problem box will be located in team leaders' rooms along with extra slips in the other 6 rooms. The middle school problem boxes will be located in an empty locker in 6th-8th grade (3 total.) Once every 2 weeks, the Parkside Challengers will collect the problem slips and answer them to the best of their ability. If it is an issue that we cannot solve, we will tell that student to go see either Mrs. Palecek or Mrs. McCarthy-Cardoso, our guidance counselors. We will try and keep the slips anonymous, elementary slips ask for teacher and initials and middle school slips will ask for locker #.

  3. TEACHER Nominees! We are going to choose 1 Elementary teacher, 1 middle school teacher, and 1 staff member per month that have exhibited the Parkside Character Trait for that month. We value our teachers and staff members and want to show our appreciation since you nominate students for these traits. Each teacher received a "To Do" pad of paper and 2 gel pens. February - Leadership - Mrs. Lotspeich, Ms. Rondello, & Mrs. Jarvis March - Integrity - Mrs. Martz, Mrs. Harvey, & Ms. L. Williams April - Cooperation - Mrs. Hendrickson, Ms. V. Williams, & Mrs. Peterson May - Celebrate - TBD

  4. Posters The Parkside Challengers will be making posters, laminating them, and displaying them around the school. These posters will have positive themes dealing with respect for self, others, and property. We felt that a visual reminder would help students and staff members to stay alert and to keep working towards our goal of improving the school climate when it comes to respect. On the next few slides are examples of the posters we made and put on display in January...

  5. Some Examples of our Posters: Please keep me clean & don’t write on my walls! Thanks! I'm the happiest when people are nice to me! Come “dressed for success” every day and you'll go far!

  6. More Poster Examples: I’m not lazy, I'm taking a break, please respect that! Don't make fun of me because I’m different! Accept it! Help me when I’m hurt, don't make fun of me because that hurts, too!

  7. Even more posters! When you call me names, it makes me sad… I’m not fat, I'm fluffy! Choose your words carefully! I’m not ugly, I'm unique. Everyone looks different, you know!

  8. Janitor Reports Periodically, we will be speaking with the janitors to see if they have seen any vandalism or spots around school that will need to be picked up/cleaned. Members of the Parkside Challengers would be willing to stay after school to help the janitors clean, scrub, repaint, or do whatever is necessary to keep our school clean and vandalism free. Some of the members even came up with the idea that we could buff out swear words and other marks on the lockers by using a sander or other tool from Mr. Cleereman (Tech ed. teacher) and then repaint the spots on the lockers, if necessary. At this time, we have not seen much vandalism, only in the bathroom stalls and this has got to stop!

  9. Parkside Challengers Mrs. Kettlewell and these students: 7th graders: Alex Schultz Maria Stake Karley Reetz MacKenzie Risch Mae Longsine 8th graders: Cassandra Marvin Rodrigo Cervantes Hannah Bunde - class president Erin Coron Alexa Gravunder Please speak to these students if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. We attended the Central Wisconsin Talented and Gifted Conference (CWTAG) in Sauk Prairie, WI and our action plan was to improve school climate by respecting others (students, teachers, staff, substitutes) and the school itself (respect property.) We would like to give the students and staff members a Google survey in May to see how we did!
