  2. Diarize 30 June 2009! • Mandatory Grant due 30 June 2009 – 50% of SDL • No extensions • May be completed online • A signed copy must be sent to Fasset to finalise application • Form and guidelines may be downloaded at www.fasset.org.za • Fasset Skills Advisors (FSAs) available to assist

Organising Framework for Occupations (OFO) • Changes in a number of occupational groups • Visit www.fasset.org.za for the latest Organising Framework for Occupations (OFO) compiled and maintained by the DoL • This system will provide clarity on which occupation fits into which occupational group and what the OFO code is • Accounting trainees now fall into the Professionals group

  4. Strategic Cash Grant (SCG) • Levy paying firms may claim up to 20% of SDL • An approved Mandatory Grant is a prerequisite • Grant for 2008 calendar year is due on 31 March 2009 • For the 2009 calendar year the grant is due on 31 March 2010 and a simpler submission in MS Excel may be used • For 2009/10 SCG to be capped at R13 million • Forms and guidelines are available on www.fasset.org.za

  5. Learnership Cash Grant (LCG) • Due 31 March 2009 for learnership commencement period 1 January to 31 December 2008 • Any extension applications must reach Fasset on or before 31 March 2009 • Higher amount for people with disabilities – R27,000 vs. R47,250 • For 2009/10 amount has increased • 1 year (12 months) – R11,000 (disabled R19,250) • 2 year (24 months) – R18,000 (disabled R31,500) • 3 year (36 months) – R27,000 (disabled R47,250)

  6. Monitoring Grant Payments • Grant payment schedule • EFT reference - SDL number • Payments can be monitored on-line • Contact SARS if grant payment amounts do not correlate with SDL paid to SARS • Fasset records levies approximately two months in arrears

  9. Disability Awareness • 5.03% of SA population • 99.28% are unemployed (PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2005) • Learnership benefits - tax deductions & salaries are SDL exempt • Project funding • Fasset disability toolkit under development

ORT CAT Work Readiness Programme • Black unemployed graduates entering the Fasset sector • Mentorship offered for at least 6 months after the intervention • Learners Unemployed Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) graduates in Johannesburg • CAT learners thereafter to complete their ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) learnerships • Contact Tracy Mayhew, (011) 728 7154 • www.fasset.org.za for more details
