Why Is Music Part Of Teen Culture? • Listen to a lot of music • Important- part of their day to day life • Teens listen to diff. types of music than adults (newer songs- adults listen to music that were popular when they were young) • Big influence- mood (sad  listen to happy songs  feel happier)

5. Why Is Music Constructive? • Inspires- think more deeply and notice things that they have never noticed before • - to be a better person • Express emotions – how teens are feeling is the type of music they listen to • Relate to music- the lyrics are what happened to them or how they are feeling • Passes time • Makes boring stuff more fun

6. Why Is Music Destructive? • Inappropriate language (swearing) • Take people off task – get distracted • Influence teens to do bad things (what teens hear and see is what they do) • Listen to music not appropriate for age (lyrics for older people)
