  3. An assertion is an opinion statement that the author (YOU) intends to support with evidence. A = Assertion

  4. Supply the evidence. Introduce the quotation by naming the speaker/narrator and explaining briefly the situation/context of the quotation. • Quote a word, phrase, line or lines from a text or source. • Evidence should support the assertion. E = Evidence

  5. Comment on the quotation by writing several sentences explaining how the evidence supports the assertion. C = Commentary

  6. A = Dorothy is curious and caring • E = goes on an adventure, doesn’t turn back, wants to help other characters reach their goals and destinations. • C = When Dorothy enters the land of Oz, she meets many characters and is not afraid and wants to help them.   7. In the movie The Wizard of Oz, the character Dorothy can be described as curious and caring. She goes on an adventure, doesn’t turn back, and wants to help other characters reach their goals and destinations. When Dorothy enters the land of Oz, she meets many characters and is not afraid and wants to help them. For example, she wants to help the lion find the courage to take on the adventure with her.
