The AEFP Program • Annual award that recognizes organizations for performance excellence in fire prevention • Administered by the Texas Fire Marshal’s Association, the official state chapter of the International Fire Marshal’s Association • Established in 2008 • The only formal recognition for performance excellence of organizations given by TxFMA • To receive an AEFP Award, an organization must score a minimum of 150 points in pre-designated categories and criteria

AEFP Scoring Categories • Organization must score at least 150 points • Point value of each category ranges from 10-50 pts • Sub-categories and criteria worth 5 or 10 points each • Individual criteria are pass/fail; must be verified • Planned Categories • Authority, organization, and ethics 25 pts • Fire and life safety programs 50 pts • Performance metrics and CQI program 25 pts • Web-based communications and automation 25 pts • Certification, education, and development 25 pts • Professional organizations 25 pts • Fire prevention legislation or ordinances 15 pts • Task force or cooperative programs 10 pts

AEFP Application Process • Complete the self-assessment worksheet • Prepare the application submission • 3-ring binder with appropriate section tabs (with criteria number and alpha) • 19 criteria categories, with subcategories • Supporting documentation, and • Appropriate fees • Send the completed packet to the Texas Fire Marshals Association AEFP Award Committee • The AEFP Award Committee is responsible for the evaluation • Evaluation report • Notification of application status by October 31 • Additional information about the AEFP program will be available at: www.txfma.org • Questions or comments about the AEFP program should be addressed to Jody Gonzales, Denton County Fire Marshal and Chair of the AEFP Award Committee
