  2. Nick Salzano ● Nick Salzano is a famous name in travel blogging. Nick Salzano educates & motivates people to achieve something in their life. In this post Nick Salzano is sharing about Places to Visit Cantabria, The Green Heart of Spain. ● Cantabria is considered one of the most environmentally friendly and unique regions in the country. It was pouring rain when I got there, and I worried that it would be difficult for me to challenge this reputation. However, I immediately understood that, indeed, Cantabria has something special. ● It is blessed with breathtaking coasts and unique coastal towns and villages, but enjoying majestic mountains, deep valleys and charming mountain villages, Cantabria has not been discovered by mass tourism, perhaps that is why Reasons to become more interesting .

  3. Nick Salzano ● I think it’s only a matter of time before more tourists explore Cantabria. Santander, the beautiful capital of Cantabria, is connected to the UK and other parts of Europe by direct flights from low cost airlines. ● In addition, Cantabria crosses the route of the Camino del Norte to Santiago de Compostela, which is one of the pilgrimage routes to Santiago, which attracts more and more pilgrims, slowly and constantly, for being a more picturesque walking route. ● Indeed, I am really honored to be able to visit this beautiful region of Spain, where there are beautiful towns, some by the sea and some inland, as well as unique archaeological sites, unspoilt natural scenery, beautiful beaches and people.

  4. Nick Salzano Nick Salzano – Castro Urdiales ● Santander, the capital of Cantabria, has elegant architecture, beautiful golden beaches and layered history. This is where Spanish aristocrats began spending their summer months in the early 20th century and became Alfonso XIII’s favorite summer capital. ● I’m not a big city dweller, but I must admit that Castro Urdiales caught my attention. Located on the Bay of Biscay, this modern town has a well-preserved historic center and medieval houses with wooden balconies. ● The most interesting building in the city is the Church of Santa Maria, which is a Gothic-style cathedral church that stands on a peninsula that dashes into the – sometimes rough – sea. The view of the blue sea and the church of Castro Urdiales port in the background is simply spectacular.

  5. Nick Salzano ● But it was Santilana del Mar that fascinated me. This perfect medieval town is charming even under the continuous rain in Cantabrian. Santillana del Mar is also called the “City of Three Lies” because it is neither a “holy” (holy), a llano (plain) nor the sea as its name suggests. It actually originated from San Juliana (or Santa Llana), whose remains are kept in the Romanesque church in Colegiata (and the former Benedectino monastery). ● ● Nick Salzano – Altamira Caves One of the most interesting places in Cantabria is the Altamira Museum, which houses a perfect replica of the Altamira Caves and is now closed to the public for conservation: only five people are allowed to enter every Friday, waiting among museum visitors and the cave environment is kept intact under strict control.

  6. Nick Salzano ● The Altamira Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, contain some of the best examples of prehistoric art. Their paintings have a history of 16,000 years. They are considered masterpieces of creative genius and testimony to human art. .. These paintings depict bison, deer, wild boar, and horses, and the outlines of the pictures are drawn in natural colors such as ocher and charcoal. Nick Salzano – Camino Lebaniego ● It wasn’t until I took a short walk on the Camino Lebaniego that I realized how green Cantabria is. ● The Camino Lebaniego is a 65 kilometer route and is often used by pilgrims to get from the Camino Del Norte to the Camino Francis.

  7. Nick Salzano ● Those hiking in Camino Frances may want to move to Camino del Norte because the landscape is more diverse (and green), the climate is cooler, and because it is significantly less crowded. On the other hand, those walking in Camino Del Norte may feel the need to enjoy sunny days and easy walking, and get to know more pilgrims. Either way, Camino Lebaniego will not fail to amaze those who travel it. The scenery is simply breathtaking: imagine a small town in a fairy tale; crystalline water flowing through a deep valley; a peak that invites visitors for a walk. Coupled with a traditional way of life, a group of goats block traffic, dogs make sure everyone keeps up with the group, and the shepherd asks passers-by if they are willing to help. The hike from Collado de Hoz to Mirador Santa Catalina is breathtaking despite the rain. The scenery is as green as possible, no one can be seen: it is completely peaceful. The scenery of Mirador Santa Catalina is breathtaking. I even took the cable car from Fuente Dé to El Cable, but the bad weather blocked my view. However, I think it must be amazing on a clear day; after all, Cantabria is home to the Europa National Park, one of the most beautiful mountains in Europe. ● ●

  8. Nick Salzano Salzano – Albergue de Güemes ● As I have already said, the Camino del Norte to Santiago de Compostela passes through Cantabria. There are several hotels and homestays along the way, but most pilgrims choose to live in hotels, which always give them a warm welcome. The Güemes Hostel is one of them. In this type of place, the atmosphere is very pleasant, and the vibes is so good that pilgrims often return here to spend a few weeks after completing the Camino. Here the pilgrims share their homemade meals; they have a comfortable bed to rest; facilities for washing and drying clothes (the importance of which should never be underestimated, especially when they go out often and have little time to properly dry their clothes in case of!). There is even a library and a multi-denominational church. And the surrounding environment is beautiful. It is only a matter of time before more people discover the beauty of Cantabria! Have you been there? What do you like the most about Cantabria? ● ●
