  1. Aim: How can a war abroad cause a war at home? The Russian Revolution By Josh Prager and Matt Toscano

  2. Has This Happened to You? • Has someone ever mistreated you to the point where you revolt?

  3. “War Pigs”- Black Sabbath • Listen to the lyrics of “War Pigs” and answer the following questions. “Generals gathered in their masses Just like witches at black masses Evil minds that plot destruction Sorcerers of death's construction In the fields the bodies burning As the war machine keeps turning Death and hatred to mankind Poisoning their brainwashed minds Oh lord yeah! “

  4. Who does the artists refer to as “Witches”? • What do you think the “War Machine” is? “No more war pigs have the power Hand of God has struck the hour Day of judgment, God is calling On their knees the war pig's crawling Begging mercy for their sins Satan laughing spreads his wings!” • What do you think the artists mean by “Day of Judgment”? • Why do you think the artists created this song?

  5. The Revolutions of Russia • World War I • Strained Russian resources • Lack of transportation to ship goods to the front • High casualties, low supplies • Poor leadership and preparation. • The March Revolution • March 1917, disasters on the battlefield combined with food and fuel shortages on the home front brought the overthrow of Czar Nicholas II and the establishment of a liberal Provincial Government.

  6. The Exit Question • Was the Russian Revolution caused more by the events abroad during WWI? Or the events at home? • Sit with members you agree with and come up with one final statement proving your argument.
