  1. SEAS First Meeting of the Year (Lots of info today so please bear with us) If you have any questions throughout, just ask! :D

  2. Prayer Gracious God, your amazing love extends through time and space, to all parts of your creation, which you created and called good. Your covenant with the human family is remembered in every rainbow in the sky, symbolizing your promise of love and blessing to every living creature, and to all successive generations. Your covenant of faithfulness and love extends to the whole creation. Today we pray for the healing of our planet that present and future generations may enjoy the fruits of creation, and continue to glorify and praise you.

  4. THE POINT SYSTEM EARN MEMBERSHIP STATUS’S AT THE END OF THE YEAR! ACTIVE MEMBER- attended 3 meetings per semester GREEN MEMBER-attended 3 meetings per semester + earned 10 additional points EMERALD MEMBER- attended 3 meetings per semester + earned 20 additional points

WAYS TO EARN ADDITIONAL POINTS -Environmental Service with club: 5 points -Help out in school garden: 5 points - Environmental Service on your Own: 7 points - Committee Activities: 2 to 5 points -Fundraising Help: 2 to 5 points - Non service club outings: 3 points -Other Environmental Activities? (hikes, outings, etc.)

Receive Awards Active Members: name will be entered in drawing for fun eco- friendly prizes Green Members: will receive recycled toothbrush bracelets made by officers Emerald Members: $5 gift card and picture on SEAS board Emerald/ Green Members: There will be a special ice cream/ treat party for all of you at the end of the year

  7. The SEAS Garden • What we do: • Plant new seeds • Pick all the fruits, veggies and herbs • Take the produce home • Make delicious food from stuff we grew here at Pres!

  8. T-Shirts!! • Start coming up with your shirt designs! • Bring in by October Meeting • Vote for design in November Meeting • Get Your Awesome (eco-friendly shirts if the club decides) T-Shirts by December

  10. Upcoming Events

  11. Vegetarian Week! • Week of October 1st • Go vegetarian or vegan and fill out food log • Watch “Vegucated” with your friends on Thursday (with veggie snacks) • Free vegetarian meal on Friday • Tell your friends!

  12. Why Go Vegetarian? • Livestock farming uses a lot more energy • Reduce pollution: animal waste runoff from factory farms pollutes rivers and streams • Save rainforests: trees are cut down to make room for cattle • Save water: It takes 600 gallons to produce one burger patty

  13. Overview What is it? A 30-day eco lifestyle challenge inspired thousands of high school and college students. Goal To transition participants from conventional to conscious living through simple, fun, and high impact daily steps.

  14. How It Works… Every day will be uniquely themed to demonstrate the variety, relevance, and accessibility of sustainability in today's world. Participants will be given Green, Greener, Greenest, and Extra Credit Challenges each day to engage, learn, and experience. Students will submit innovative multimedia answers with text, visuals, and videos. Resources provided information that mobilized action.

  15. How It Works… 20 Daily prizes are distributed for the best challenge submissions in the greener and greenest categories, and points will be allocated for completed challenges according to level of difficulty. At the end of October challengers will be asked to submit a “final exam” which consists of both a video and written application. The exam in combination with total points from the daily challenges, will be used to choose the 12 challenge finalists admitted to Green University.   16. Green University 12 challenge finalists will be chosen to participate in Green U 2012. This December winners will be flown to San Francisco where leaders and eco experts will share their wisdom and mentor Challengers in the creation of social action platforms. These social action platforms will be incorporated into TTG’s 2013 initiatives as well as PGC 2013. PGC 2011 Challenge Finalists at Green U

  17. How do I get involved? Its easy! Just head to…. http://www.teensturninggreen.org/project-green-challenge/ and click on the sign up button! On September 25 you will receive an email prompting you to head to the PGC site and choose a username and password. Beginning October 1, you will get a daily email at 4am PST providing you with a link to the daily challenge page, where you can sign in, review the daily challenge material and upload your answers! You can always register through your campus reps as well! Challengers, campus reps, eco leaders and staff at Green U 2011!
