CJJ and National Juvenile Justice Systems Reform • CJJ is National Non-Profit Association in its 25th year representing governor-appointed advisory groups on juvenile justice • Promotes best policies and practices in delinquency reduction and prevention • Educates public and advises policy makers

  3. CJJ and National Juvenile Justice Systems Reform • Assists states and territories in meeting core requirements of JJDPA • Advocates for effective and needed system reforms to improve quality of care for children and families • Links national, state and local advocates and organizations, across many disciplines, to pursue common mission

  4. CJJ and Reauthorization of the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act • Enhance the partnership between states and the federal OJJDP by expanding training, technical assistance, research and evaluation • Expand juvenile crime prevention efforts by reauthorizing and increasing funding for Title II, Title V and JABG • Safeguard vulnerable and high risk youth who are in need of mental health and substance abuse services

  5. CJJ and Reauthorization of the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act • April 2008 CJJ Council of SAGs approves Platform Position Supporting Reauthorization of JJDPA • CJJ continues to work with the 111th Congress to ensure a strengthened and sustainable JJDPA and to maximize appropriations to support best practices in states and territories
