  1. Status Report: Progress on Bs Update • Keeping to schedule presented two weeks ago • see slides from 29 June 2006, which are appended to these slides • One significant change: NN-enhanced SSKT • CDFNOTE 8344 V2.1 – see presentation today • fractional improvement in D2 is 10% • sign-off (bless) next Thursday (20 July 2006) • Semileptonic & hadronic (full + partial w. NN) have incorporated NN-enhanced SSKT • see results today, improvement as expected • bless for unblinding next Thursday (20 July 2006) • semilept., fully recon. hadronics w. NN have no outstanding issues J. Kroll Penn

  2. Enhanced Schedule • June 29th: • Bless neural net combined OST done • Prebless SSKT with kinematic enhancement done • Prebless semileptonics (blind) done • Prebless fully reconstructed hadronic with neural net (blind) done • July 6th • Prebless partially reconstructed hadronic with neural net (blind) done • July 13th: • Bless SSKT with kinematic enhancement status with NN-enhanced SSKT • Bless semileptonic analysis blind status w. NN-enhanced SSKT • Bless fully reconstructed hadronic with NN blind status w. NN-enhanced SSKT • July 20th– can still keep this schedule • Bless partially reconstructed hadronic with NN blind • at this stage we can unblind the amplitude scans and calculate significance • July 24th • Post updated CDF notes with unblinded result • 1st draft of PRL circulates to Collaboration within 2 days – behind (no draft) • Details of what happens after this still need to be worked out • accelerated review process? • show preliminary result before releasing PRL? J. Kroll Penn

  3. Plans for Bs Update Joseph Kroll for the Bs Mixing Group 29 June 2006

  4. Goal As much sensitivity as possible with current data on near-term time scale Achieve by extending current analysis (hep-ex/0606027) Figure of merit: 5 Publish in PRL and PRD J. Kroll Penn

  9. Plan • With these improvements expect (A) (stat) < 0.20 @ ms = 17.3 ps-1 5 on A, not on p-value • Unblind only after all improvements blessed • Publish what we find after unblinding (unless mistake) • PRL draft comes with release of unblinded result to Collaboration • PRD to follow PRL (could be concurrent – see later) J. Kroll Penn

  10. Schedule • June 29th: • Bless neural net combined OST • Prebless SSKT with kinematic enhancement • Prebless semileptonics (blind) • Prebless fully reconstructed hadronic with neural net (blind) • July 6th • Prebless partially reconstructed hadronic with neural net (blind) • July 13th: • Bless SSKT with kinematic enhancement • Bless semileptonic analysis blind • Bless fully reconstructed hadronic with NN blind • July 20th • Bless partially reconstructed hadronic with NN blind • at this stage we can unblind the amplitude scans and calculate significance • July 24th • Post updated CDF notes with unblinded result • 1st draft of PRL circulates to Collaboration within 2 days • Details of what happens after this still need to be worked out • accelerated review process? • show preliminary result before releasing PRL? J. Kroll Penn

  11. Comment on PRD • Draft of PRD that describes submitted PRL in preparation • based on public note (never released) prepared by Kevin Pitts • Can also serve as draft of PRD for improved analysis • submit one PRD describing either updated analysis or both • We are making progress • resources are limited • updated analysis aiming for observation has higher priority J. Kroll Penn
