Description • This site, the subject of a multi-million dollar movie, ‘’ Social Network” was launched by Mark Zuckerbergin February 2004. • He started working on this stolen project idea at Harvard University. • It actively has more than 600,000,000 users. • Over 85% of students use Facebook today. • Users create a profile and can interact with friends worldwide over posts, comments, and messages.

Impact on Society • Over 100 million users access the site each day • More than 3.5 billion minutes are spent on Facebook daily • 1 billion pieces of content are shared weekly • People become addicted to Facebook. • Some people feel the need to update their Facebook and check for new posts every few minutes.

  4. Benefits • You can message your friends • You can talk to people you might not normally be in contact with, i.e. Relatives living far away. • Helps you find old friends, without charging you. • You can join groups based on common interests and meet new people.
