How was this achieved • Approximately 90 questions developed to ensure a suitable range for unique candidate assessments to be created. • Only 40 questions will be set per candidate with a pass criteria of a minimum 70% or 28/40 questions answered correctly. • Suitable selection from the range to ensure candidates can prove knowledge across a wide range of access platforms and equipment

Implementation for Centres • Date: From 11th November 2016. • “What happens this term, scaffolding unit may have been delivered and assessed? ” • Retain the evidence for external verification purposes. However if assessments are found to have been incorrect through the External Verification process we would recommend using the SOLAR Assessment for resit where applicable. • Centres delivering after the implementation date should use the new Solar assessment

  4. Implementation for Centres (cont) • “What will EV’s want to see as evidence?” • EV's will look at the evidence you provide. As normal, SQA recommends using our published assessment, however centres can use their own assessment as long as it meets the standard of the assessment SQA has provided. Prior verification by SQA should be sought.

Implementation for Centres (cont) • What qualifications are delivering staff expected to have? • Current staff delivering the unit already will not need any additional qualification but relevant CPD should be up to date. • Do candidates still need to do a risk assessment for Outcome 2? • Yes, the risk assessment must be completed using a video clip, the clip will available on SOLAR via www.sqa.org.uk/construction as a view only clip but will also be downloadable from the secure website as a MP4 file.

  6. How will the assessment be accessed? • Administered and scheduled by the tutor/centre • Automatically marked with immediate result to learner • Only available through SOLAR – www.sqasolar.org.uk • Full info and training videos for tutors on SOLAR website

  7. Sample assessment question 1 There followed 5 slides showing 5 questions from the assessment. These are not provided in this pack as it would compromised the assessment process.
