  4. Read the pop-ups and respond as appropriate. For this presentation all certificates and warnings were accepted (YES).

  5. A dynamic progress bar appears while the client-side application is launched.

  6. The Java client application is ready for your input.

  7. Note: this client-side application includes a built in help system, providing context sensitive help whenever you click the help link.

  8. This is the on-line help tool.

  9. Possible to browse help tree and obtain help and definitions for particular features and functions

  10. Back to the real U-MARF on-line interface with Registration and login …

  11. Generate a personal account using the Register button

  12. A simple web-based form for entering user details and creating a login account All fields marked with an asterisk “*” must be completed

  13. The default preferences for requested media and geographic region of interests may be specified. These will be applied by default but can be over-ridden for specific orders.

  14. Some formats only apply to specific product groups. Note: in ordering data from other product groups your default format may not be applicable and may lead to non-completion of the order. Please be aware of this potential problem. We hope to minimise the occurrence of conflicts with ongoing improvements in error-handling.

  15. Click ok to return to the Java application.

  16. Login Here NB: for some actions keyboard shortcuts are available, e.g. Alt L for Log in (active characters are underlined) and “tab” keys to change focus. These features may by OS dependent.

  28. Query Mode Simple Mode: provides a basic set of search parameters. Product Time Space Quality

  29. Change Mode Advanced Mode: provides a more detailed set of search parameters on a per product basis. Non applicable parameters are greyed-out. A single product must be selected.

  39. Select a group of products … or only a specific product Specify a Time range Of Interest (TOI) Specify a Region Of Interest (ROI) Click on Search (or hit return on the keyboard)

  40. For this case a warning occurs indicating that no Region Of Interest (ROI) was selected. Either acknowledge “Yes” or click “No” if you want to specify a ROI. In general a query has to include a product selection and a Time Range Of Interest. Specifying no ROI will search without geographic restriction. Time range will automatically reset to valid values if inconsistent data is entered.

  41. The number of results matching the query are returned. Click “Yes” to display the results.

  42. Warning: possible to define a query with too many results (e.g. > 500). A request is printed to refine the search (e.g. make the time window smaller).

  43. The example query here only produced seven results … click “Yes”
