Raising people's awareness of DRR -to dig up local wisdoms of DRR in the community. -to hand the wisdoms of DRR down from generation to generation Community Radio can produce varieties of broadcasting programs for DRR with community people Talk show, tips, experience, story, song, music, comedy, documentary, drama

Audio Materials for CR in Disaster Produced in collaboration with JICA DRLC The tool contains 193 audio and transcripts in 9 languages (English, Chinese, Thai, Tagalog, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian) for broadcasting on community radio stations when 4 types of disasters (earthquakes, tsunami, landslides and floods) occur.

DMAM Workshop with RAKOM August 2-5, 2009 in Merapi Many kinds of audio contents not only for disaster information, but also for local wisdoms of DRR were produced by community radio activists and community people. - Information on volcanic eruption - Song with traditional music - Comic chat - Comedy - Counting rhymes - Traditional drama

  10. Meaning of living in Mt.Merapi The community people live with Mt. Merapi despite eruption of frequent occurrence . It means that the people want to live there feeling enrich, not only for safety. They prepare against the disaster and raise the awareness of disaster risk reduction using community radio.

  11. Networking with people in other volcanos The community radio people in Mt. Merapi have started sharing their experiences with people on in Mt. Sinabung and Mt. Kelud. - to assist setting up emergency radio stations - to collaborate on producing radio program for DRR

  12. Archiving radio programs about the experiences on disaster management on the website.

  13. Conclusion We cannot prevent natural hazard, but can mitigate the risk. One of great tools to do it is community radio.
