Daniel 8:3 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had [two] horns: and the [two] horns [were] high; but one [was] higher than the other, and the higher came up last. 8:4 I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; so that no beasts might stand before him, neither [was there any] that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great.

Introduction of the Little Horn • Dan. 8:9 And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant [land]. • If it goes toward the east it must come from the west. • Rome was west of all the other nations in all the prophecies

12. This Little Horn is Pagan Rome • Rome was the next world Empire • It came upon the scene in 168 B.C. and lasted until 476 or for 644 years. • Rome comes in two phases. Pagan - Papal • Papal Rome came upon the scene: • 508 Religious establishment – 1290 year prophecy extends to 1798 538 Political establishment - 1260 year prophecy. Had a deadly wound (1798) – Politically gone

14. Consider The Time Of The Vision • Verse 2 I saw in a vision…. • Media Persia 207 • Grecia 168 • Pagan Rome 644 • Papal Rome 1290 1260 • 2309 years 2279 • The vision deals with four mighty world powers. You can see immediately that the prophecy has to deal with years and not days.

15. The Key to the Prophecy • Eze. 4:6 And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year. • Num. 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, [even] forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, [even] forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

16. How Long Shall Be The Vision? • Remember vision deals with world Empires…many years. • Daniel 8:14 “And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

17. 2300 Days Cleansed • 2300 cleansing days Or • 2300 Atonement days • 2300 Atonements would be 2300 years as one Atonement day a year.

Points To Remember • When this vision was given, Israel was in captivity and there was no Sanctuary at Jerusalem. • Nevertheless we can learn from the former Sanctuary principles to see what the cleansing of the Sanctuary indicates. • The cleansing of the Sanctuary is after these world Empires have expired or 2300 years later. Then the sanctuary is to be cleansed • This would be after Pagan Roman Empire that fell in 476 A.D. and the Papal Roman Empire fell in 1798. • Once again, this would be at a time when there is no worldly Sanctuary. • The only Sanctuary at that time was the heavenly.

(saints means holy ones to two celestial beings) • Answer: verse 16 Gabriel make this man to understand the vision……Who tells Gabriel what to do?It is Jesus! • Thus it is Jesus who gives the 2300 year prophecy. • Note how Christ-centered is the prophecy.

That will be the time of the final eradication of sin from the heavenly Sanctuary

37. The 2300 Year prophecy • Dan. 8:13 During the Middle Ages or during the 2300 year prophecy • Dan.11:31 & 12:11 both point to the time when the abomination is set up. The word “they” indicates two powers working together to take away the daily. (political and religious) • The date was 508 when the Arian Christian element gave in to the dominant Catholic power and the Papal priesthood was set up with the confessional box. This took the place of Jesus forgiving sin in heaven. • The Catholic Priesthood is “the abomination of desolation” and it took away the daily (continual) intercessory work of Jesus in the heavenly sanctuary. This is how the Sanctuary was trodden under foot.

38. How Does the Cleansing Work? • There four things to be cleansed • 1. The Daily • 2. The Abomination of Desolation • 3. The Cleansing of the Sanctuary \ Atonement • 4. the Host - The persecuted saints during Papal reign • All four deal with the Sanctuary cleansing. Although our emphasis has been on the judgment cleansing of the Sanctuary, these four are part of the 2300 year prophecy message that was to be corrected.

40. The Time Element • When does the prophecy start? • Dan. 9:23 9:23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to show [thee]; for thou [art] greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision. • The only vision in consideration is Daniel 8 or the 2300 year Prophecy • There is a breakdown for the time element • 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, (offerings) and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Here is the Beginning Point • Verse 25 9:25Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. • 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: The decree to rebuild was in the year 457 B.C. In the fall of the year. (Ezra 6:14) It is important to remember that the prophecy started in the fall.

42. Simple Arithmetic • 2300 • -457 • 1843 Add the 0 year and you have 1844 • To cleans the Sanctuary was only done on the Day of Atonement. The Sanctuary was cleansed from all sin by the High Priest. We are dealing with the heavenly sanctuary, this side of the cross and this tells us that Judgment started on the house of God in 1844. • The Day of Atonement, cleansing of Sanctuary, in 1844 was on October 22.

Some more Arithmetic • Dan. 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined (cut off) upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. • 70 weeks times 7 = 490 • 457 • 33 A.D. The stoning of Steven …. Gospel to the gentiles • This prophecy tells us when the Jews, as a nation were to be cut off. 34 A.D. { Determined = Cut off } • The Jews don’t like the book of Daniel

44. Some more Arithmetic • Verse 25: 69 weeks x 7= 483 years of the 490 • 483 B.C. • 457 • 26 A.D. Deals specifically with the Messiah • Verse 27sacrifice to cease in midst of 70th week 3 1\2 3 1\2 Ministry To the Gentiles

45. The 69th Week • The ministry of Jesus started at end of the 69th week or 483 years after the beginning date of 457 B. C. = 27 A.D. • Dan. 9:25 9:25 Know therefore and understand, [that] from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince [shall be] seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: • 69 weeks times 7 or 483 years brings you down to 27 A.D. • This was the beginning of the ministry of Jesus. • Verse 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, • In the midst of the week = 3 1\2 yrs. Ministry of Jesus • Sacrifice = Jesus Oblation = Ceremonial service ceases

46. At the Cross • Messiah to be cut off in the midst of the week or after 3 1\2 years of ministry • He died in the spring at Easter time. Therefore, considering the 1\2 year, His ministry had to start in the fall. It started when he was 30 years of age. Therefore the birth of Jesus had to be in the fall. (probably September or October) This prophecy is exact even to the season of the year. • The prophecy started in the fall of 457 B.C. • The prophecy was confirmed in midst of week • The ministry of Jesus was 3 1\2 years.

47. Put The Time Element Of The Vision All Together Add it up • The 490 years brought us down to the fall of 34 A.D. • Take the 490 years from the 2300 and you have 1810 years left. • Add the 1810 years to the 34 and you come to the 1844 date once again.

48. More Mathematical Assurance • Dan. 12: 11 “And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days. • 508 • 1290 Controlled the daily and the abomination • 1798 • This false system received a deadly wound and lost its power and status in 1798.

This goes with the conclusion of the 2300 year prophecy that we are studying.
