  1. Ultimate Frisbee “When a ball dreams, it dreams it’s a Frisbee.” -Stancil Johnson

  2. Brief history and basics of Frisbee • The game of Ultimate Frisbee was developed in 1968 (Joel Silver, Buzzy, Jonny) • Many different types of discs can be used - regulation disc is 175 grams • Can be played on different fields and by different rules as long as you follow the “spirit of the game”

  3. Spirit of the Game • "Ultimate has traditionally relied upon a spirit of sportsmanship which places the responsibility for fair play on the player. Highly competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of the bond of mutual respect between players, adherence to the agreed upon rules of the game, or the basic joy of play. Protection of these vital elements serves to eliminate adverse conduct from the ultimate field. Such actions as taunting of opposing players, dangerous aggression, intentional fouling, or other "win-at-all-costs" behavior are contrary to the spirit of the game and must be avoided by all players." -Ultimate Players Association

  4. Pull or Throw-off - defensive team sends a long throw to the opposing team to begin the game and after every goal • Goal - when the offensive team catches a throw in the opposing teams end zone (one point) Normal, regulation game 15 point games 7 players

  5. Pivot foot - foot in continuous contact with the ground when in possession of the Frisbee • The field does not include the lines that define it (similar to football, opposite of soccer) • Ultimate Frisbee will combine skills from various games like football, soccer and basketball • Offense should not hold the Frisbee longer than 10 seconds (the quicker the release the better)

  6. Field Dimensions sideline 25 yards 25 yards 70 yards 40 yards End line Goal line
